Collection of furniture and sculptures for Spazio Borgogno for Milan Design Week, 2015.

The square is the nucleus of this line of sculptures and objects. It references the discoveries of Marcus Vitruvius, whose requirements are still prescient today: Venustas, Firmitas, Utilitas. The objects are made of printed ash wood.

We found the slats for this furniture neatly stacked in the Vitruvian Forest 158 years from now. The color gradient speaks to Vitruv’s call for Venustas (Beauty). The pieces also embody his other two parameters of Firmitas (Durability) and Utilitas (Usability). The square is the nucleus of this line of objects and furniture and not just emblematic. It is a reminder and reference to Vitruv’s discovery: that the upright man fits with stretched out arms in a square as well as in a circle - clearly illustrated in the sketch by Leonardo da Vinci.
