This shelf is inspired by Alva Vanderbilt and a piece of furniture from her kitchen at her cottage, Marble House,‘ in Newport/RI. Similar to Alva herself, who was extremely modern and unconventional in her life, these shelves combine both old and modern elements into a harmonious unity. They represent a transition in aesthetics and shape from the past to today.

The shelf act almost as a pedestal for objects and things. According to us, the appreciation of objects could be another sustainable approach. If objects are considered precious, valuable, or simply appreciated, they will be spared from being discarded.
